Basic requirements for infrared detectors:

1) The detection rate should be as high as possible to improve the thermal sensitivity of the system.

2) The working band should be adapted to the radiation spectrum of the measured target so as to receive as much infrared radiation as possible. 3) For multi-element detectors used in parallel scanning, the characteristics of each unit detector should be uniform.

4) The response speed of the detector is fast, that is, the time constant is small to meet the requirements of fast scanning.

5) In order to make the thermal imaging system small and light, the cooling requirements of the detector should not be too high, and it is better to have a non-cooling detector. Some commonly used infrared detectors and their performance parameters are given in tabular form, and the spectral response curves of various detectors are also given for reasonable selection.
